Online Fashion Copy Writer (fixed term contract)

36Boutiques has a fixed term contract opportunity for an Online Fashion Copy Writer.

 This fixed term contract is available from 1st November 2011.

 36Boutiques is a fast growing organization and is looking for a skilled Online Writer and Social Networking Specialist.

 

You will be responsible for developing and managing written content for all the media communications platforms of 36Boutiques, including 36Magazine, 36TV, 36Boutiques weekly newsletter, our Facebook and twitter accounts and the 36 blog. You will manage the content using online content management tools. You will also need to style fashion content for the magazine and newsletter.

 

Because 36Boutiques  is a dynamic and fast-growing organization, a pro-active attitude and total dedication is essential for this position.

 

Skill Set Required:

  • Highly organised, detail oriented and efficient, able to deliver copy, both brief and extensive, on short notice;
  • Must be able to forward plan, understand and respond to production schedules and critical paths in content development;
  • Writing style to be clean and web-friendly, free of grammatical and spelling errors;
  • Dedicated to staying up-to-date on fashion trends, news and celebrity style;
  • Must be proficient in media and celebrity relations;
  • Must have a strong network of fashion contacts, including brands;
  • Must have working experience of content management systems;
  • Must have experience of styling fashion shoots, with a specific market in mind;
  • Able to generate creative fashion ideas and celebrity links;
  • Excellent command of English and good written and oral communication skills;
  • Working knowledge of search engines and finding high quality content online is important;
  • Must be able to deliver under pressure and occasionally work after hours;
  • Team player who does not require detailed supervision.

Job Outputs:

  • Online fashion writing, including daily blog posts, interviews and 24 pages of our monthly online magazine, including celebrity involvement;
  • Social networking content generation, including daily Facebook inserts and several posts a day on Twitter;
  • Content aggregation, including weekly newsletters and other ad hoc requests;
  • Celebrity ‘get the look’ development for the daily blog and weekly newsletters;
  • Ideas and coordination of content for TV inserts, including QVC-style sales, runway shows, behind the scenes and 36-questions inserts;
  • Styling and production of editorial shoots;
  • Ability to present internal and external fashion trend education.

 Core Qualifications:

  • University graduate education, with a specialisation in journalism, media, copywriting, fashion or public relations;
  • Minimum  experience of 1 year in similar working environment, including responsibility for working with CMS and social networking accounts;
  • Minimum of 6 months of professional fashion styling experience, preferably in the publishing industry;
  • Minimum of 1 year of social networking experience, preferably in a brand-specific commercial environment;
  • Strong network of fashion and/or celebrity contacts in South Africa;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of fashion brands, and their associated markets in South Africa.
